First Mind Entertainment sits down with The Chill from Compton's Most Wanted to ask him about his new album Chillafornia and his mix tape simultaneously debuting.
We first asked, "How long have you been working on the album?"
"Around two years, I produced 80% of the album with the help of producers, Joseph Lienberg, as well as, Battlecat, Jinx and DJ Silk, who is also working on the Detox album along with Jinx."
He has 16 hot tracks featuring rappers such as: the legendary King T; lil Half Dead; Bokie Loc; MC Ren; Kokain; Kurupt; Above the Law and MC Eiht from Compton's Most Wanted. The album will be released by Bump Johnson, Inc../Chad Kiser Hoopla Media Grp./Universal Distribution and drops February 25, 2010.
We ask him, " How confident do you feel about the album?"
I feel real confident, for the people that like my swag of music, that's who I'm getting it in for."
Which brings me to another question, "How do you feel about the music being played on the radio today?"
"Just being honest, I like some of the music and some I don't like. I feel a lot of these cats are just following a trend, instead of setting trends because the West coast is known for setting trends and there's no originality. Everybody is just copying what another coast is doing. But on the other hand, hip-hop should embrace jerk music and its creativity because itshows how the West coast has grown in hip hop opposed to just copying the South or East. We need to school the youngsters on the history of West coast music."
"Any other projects you working on?"
"Yea, I did the Above the Law album, also working on Kurupt's new group called G hood and my group, Wanted Gang, which is an original mix tape with cuts, scratches and skits called Big Homie Music, Volume I. Look forward to that dropping in mid February."
"What's the name of the single on the Chillafornia album?"
It's called Have that Money Right featuring MC Ren, you can get it on download, as well as your local record store. Peep a sample on dub cnn, or hip hop dx or 2dope boys.com"
